Acorus calamus (variegated sweet flag)
4.5" pot available for only: $5.00

Chartruese and green stripes dense, grassy 12" clumps make a bright accent or groundcover at water's edge or in poorly draining areas, but will also tolerate drier soil in shade. This North American native plant's roots were used by Native Americans and later pioneers as a candy.
Equisetum hyemale (horsetail)
4.5" pot available for only: $8.00

Hollow, segmented, tubular stems grow to 4' tall and grow in dry soils to wet, marginal pond conditions. An ancient native plant, limestone fossils are easy to find in local rock. Makes a great Japanese style garden subject, but spreads rampantly. Plant in contained areas, or in places where its spread won't overcome other plantings. Excellent greenery in cut flower arrangements. Super-cool container specimen plant all by itself.
