Great Plants Grown Greenly!

We grow annuals, herbs, tropicals and vegetable plants in our heated greenhouse all winter to have beautiful plants ready for you each spring. It's an unnatural environment, and we go to great lengths to make it a healthy and sustainable one.

• We offset our power use with the purchase of green tags from Bonneville Environmental Foundation-Zephyr Energy.

• We use organic potting mix to keep harmful chemicals like formaldehyde out of the air, out of gardeners' soil and ultimately the plants themselves. It's healthier for the people planting the plants, and makes a healthier herb or veggie for eating.

• We use biological and organic controls to keep insect pests out of the greenhouse in a safe way. There are no harmful chemical residues on our plants or in the soil. We have happy hummingbirds, bees, praying mantises, ladybugs and butterflies throughout the greenhouses, and our farm has a healthy ecosystem.

• We feed our plants organic fertilizers so we don't add to the demand for manufacturing of synthetic fertilizers, and we don't contribute to excess chemical fertilizer run off into our local streams. It also makes our plants healthier without stress from chemical burning, and they're ready to grow in your garden without need for special applications of chemicals by you!

Home grown herbs are functional and ornamental.

Planted in vegetable gardens and flower beds, many repel insect pests, rabbits and deer, offering protection to surrounding plantings.

Like home grown veggies, herbs harvested from the home garden are more nutrious, chemical free and more flavorful. Fresh culinary herbs make food taste better, and medicinal herbs are more efficacious.

Many herbs make excellent windowsill gardens in the kitchen. For more on growing an indoor herb garden, go to Tropicals & Houseplants and click on "Windowsill Herbs" for a list of recommended herbs.
