6-12" groundcover is covered with foamy white flower stalks in early spring. Wonderful in mass winding through hostas! Zone 3

Tradescantia tharpii (spiderwort)

Trillium grandiflorum (white) and Trillium luteum (yellow)

Trilliums are members of the lily family. They are characterized by a whorl of three broad leaves with netted venation and three showy petals.   The flower, which sits above these leaves, is solitary. There are three green sepals and three colored petals. Flowers are followed by berries. Zone 4

Viola papilionacea (blue butterfly violet)

Easy to grow Kansas native wildflower has dark blue flowers in spring and then scattered blooming through the summer.  Very attractive dark green leaves on a bushy or clumping perennial. Violets will reseed slowly and will gently spread over the years. Plant them in areas where you need a tough little plant. An essential larval host to fritillary butterflies. Grows 6-8" tall and prefers acid soils. Zone 5
