Tiarella
Tiarella cordifolia (foam flower)

6-12" groundcover is covered with foamy white flower stalks in early spring. Wonderful in mass winding through hostas! Zone 3
Tiarella wherryi (foam flower)

Creamy pink, feathery spikes grow to 12" in summer over heart-shaped, hairy leaves. Zone 3


Tradescantia

Tradescantia tharpii

Dwarf plants grow to 12" tall and produce showy pink, rose, blue and purple flowers in May. Grass-like foliage goes semi-dormant in summer with new foliage appearing in fall. Plant in sun to partial shade. Zone 4

Tradescantia 'Blue and Gold'

Chartruese foliage sets off the dark blue flowers in summer. Striking perennial grows to 24" tall and blooms from June to September. Zone 4
Tradescantia 'Lenora'

Large purple flowers grow over green foliage with purple undertones. 12" mounding plant. Zone 4
Tradescantia 'Little Doll'

12-14" grassy foliage grows to 18" wide and is covered with medium blue blooms mid to late summer. Zone 4
Tradescantia 'Zwanenburg Blue'

Very large violet-blue blooms open for about 8 weeks on 18-24" plants. Zone 3

Trillium
Trillium grandiflorum (white) and Trillium luteum (yellow)

Trilliums are members of the lily family. They are characterized by a whorl of three broad leaves with netted venation and three showy petals.   The flower, which sits above these leaves, is solitary. There are three green sepals and three colored petals. Flowers are followed by berries. Zone 4 

Tricyrtis
Tricyrtis hirta 'Miyazaki Hybrids' (toad lily)

Arching stems with lance-shaped leaves are topped in late summer and early fall with white, orchid-like flowers covered in purple speckles. Plants grow 24-30". Zone 4

Trollius
Trollius chinensis 'Golden Queen'

Bright orange cup-shaped blooms over deeply lobed foliage. Great for boggy sites and partial shade. Plants grow to 24" high. Zone 4

Verbascum
Verbascum phoenicum (mullein)

Dark purple candles grow to 36" tall over low green foliage rosettes May through August. Can rebloom when deadheaded. Zone 5/6

Verbena
Verbena canadensis

Brilliant pink flower clusters cover this low-growing wildflower all summer. Plants spread out to 15-18" and make an excellent border edging. Butterflies love this full sun perennial. Zone 5

Vernonia
Vernonia fasiculata (lead plant)

2-4' tall fall blooming native is topped with broad, compound inflorescences made up of many heads of reddish-purple flowers. Blooms July through September, and makes a great cut flower. Attracts butterflies. Plant in full sun. Zone 3

Veronica
Veronica repens 'Sunshine'

Dwarf groundcover grows only 1" tall and purple-blue blooms open on short spikes over golden-yellow foliage in summer. Forms a finely textured, tight mat with great blue and yellow contrast. Zone 5
Veronica spicata 'Sightseeing' mix

15-18" spikes of white, pink and blue cover these easy to grow perennials in summer. Makes a wonderful soft-textured filler around coneflowers and shasta daisies. Zone 3
Veronica 'Sunny Border Blue'

The 1993 Perennial Plant of the Year. Dark violet-blue 18-20" spikes cover this perennial from summer til frost. Zone 5

Veronicastrum
Veronicastrum virginicum (Culver's root)

White flower spikes bloom atop 3-5' tall plants in summer. Heat, drought and clay soil tolerant plants grow in full sun to part shade. Zone 4

Tradescantia

Viola cornuta (Johnny jump up)

Small flowered tricolor of purple, white and yellow. A classic heirloom garden plant that spreads by self-seeding and blooms in spring, throughtout the summer and into fall. Plants grow 6-10". Zone 5

Viola pedata (birdfoot violet)

Native to eastern and central United States, this plant has distinctive cut leaves topped with showy violet-blue flowers in spring and early summr. Grows 6-8" tall and prefers acid soils. Zone 4
Viola 'Chantryland'

Bright orange blooms in spring and sporadically throughout the summer, then another rebloom in fall. Zone 3
Viola 'Rebecca'

Vanilla scented blooms of white with uneven lavender markings around petal edges and flushed lemon-yellow at center. Plants grow 8-10". Zone 5/6

Tradescantia

Yucca glauca

Narrow leaves grow to 3' long and surround tall stalks topped with greenish-yellow flowers tinged with green to rose color.

Yucca filimentosa 'Color Guard'

Bright creamy-yellow centers with green edges, foliage is flushed with rose in fall and winter. 2-3' stalks carry creamy-white flowers in early to mid summer.
