- Geraniums are a traditional plant grown in garden beds and containers across the country because they are reliable, low maintenance and beautiful. Plant in ordinary well-drained potting mix and resist the urge to fertilize, using an organic plant food no more than every 2 weeks to get the most bloom from your plants.
