Perennial species native and naturalized to the Great Plains: The Dakotas, Eastern Colorado, Montana and Wyoming, Nebraska, and Kansas. Sow from spring through early autumn. Leave time in fall for plants to establish themselves before winter. Sow on a well prepared site that receives at least one-half day of full sun. One 2oz sows 250 square feet.
Mix includes butterfly milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa), New England aster (Aster novae-angliae), upland white aster (Aster ptarmicoides), purple coneflower (Echinacea angustifolia), blanketflower (Gaillardia aristata), ox-eye sunflower (Heliopsis helinathoides), Maximillian sunflower (Helianthus maximilliani), bush clover (Lespedeza capitata), blue flax (Linum perenne lewisii), Maltese cross (Lychnis chalcedonica), bee balm (Monarda fistulosa), white evening primrose (Oenothera pallida), white beard-tongue (Penstemon digitalis), large-flowered penstemon (Penstemon grandiflorus), purple prairie clover (Petalostemum purpureum), yellow prairie coneflower (Ratibida columnaris), grey-headed coneflower ((Ratibida pinnata), black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta), cut leaf black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia lacinata) and golden Alexanders (Zizia aurea). |
